Caesarean Section

چکیده
Caesarean section rates have been steadily increasing due to a higher number of sections for fetal distress, as diagnosed by cardiotocographic (CTG) monitoring in labour, and their increasing use for breech and multiple pregnancy. However, the greatest contribution to the current high caesarean rates, comes from elective repeat caesarean section (ERCS). The following is based on National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) latest guidance (November 2011). [1]

متن کاملVariation in hospital caesarean section rates for women with at least one previous caesarean section: a population based cohort study
BACKGROUND Internationally, repeat caesarean sections make the largest contribution to overall caesarean section rates and inter-hospital variation has been reported. The aim of this study was to determine if casemix and hospital factors explain variation in hospital rates of repeat caesarean sections and whether these rates are associated with maternal and neonatal morbidity. METHODS This po...

MATERIALS AND METHODS The percentages of caesarean sections attributable to specific indications were computed for the first 6 months of 1998 and the last 6 months of 2001. متن کاملRegional variation in caesarean deliveries in Germany and its causes
BACKGROUND Determinants of regional variation in caesarean sections can contribute explanations for the observed overall increasing trend of caesarean sections. We assessed which mechanism explains the higher rate of caesarean sections in the former West than East Germany: a more liberal use of caesarean sections in the case of relative indications or more common caesarean sections without indi...
متن کاملVariation in rates of caesarean section among English NHS trusts after accounting for maternal and clinical risk: cross sectional study
OBJECTIVE To determine whether the variation in unadjusted rates of caesarean section derived from routine data in NHS trusts in England can be explained by maternal characteristics and clinical risk factors. DESIGN A cross sectional analysis using routinely collected hospital episode statistics was performed. A multiple logistic regression model was used to estimate the likelihood of women h...
